January 2015

What a way to start 2015! Lots of training, in the ribbons our first competitions, and a record number or 3/4am starts.

The boys have worked outstanding the last 5 weeks, and fitness training started.

Dressage training with Hannah Biggs is paying off, Canto boy is week by week becoming more rideable, it’s hard to believe only a few months ago I couldn’t even get him to walk forward without him throwing a tantrum. He’s now slowly learning how to work properly.  Wilderness Halcyon also took his first ever trip up to Hannah’s and worked incredibly hard. Hannah really liked him too which I am VERY happy about. The horse bred to race can definitely point his pretty little toes.

Jump training also continued with Warren Lamperd, Warren has been incredible to us since the day we met him, he understands me and how I am with my horses and where I want to be. This is very important to me and also my family who can see the improvement in my mentally towards the approach of my future. Canto had his first competition and came 2nd in both his classes, I am over the moon with this result, a lot of credit to Warren for this. Hal continues to improve and has been on a few outings to King Sedgemoor, one being in torrential rain and gal force winds and popped around the course as if he was at home, special horse. Rocky also has his first ever outing which made me a very proud owner .

My parents have been amazing this winter to allow me to fit in as many outings and training days possible, the yard at home is running like clock work and without my parents help I wouldn’t be able to this.

All horses teeth, backs, feet and saddles have all been checked and treated (sorry Bank balance)

I manage to have a horrible fall out on a hack and two arena Xc falls so the boys are keeping me on my toes, but for now we are all fit and healthy and heading in to February in the best form any of us have been in. (Note to self GET IN THE GYM MORE JO)

A HUGE thank you for everyone involved in making the first month, of a year to remember, a successful one. Please enjoy a few photos of the months progress.
