February 2015

February has been full of fresh horses, pre season planning and lots of falling off.

All in all Feb has been great, the day light hours are getting better, the horses are feeling FRESH and I think it’s safe to say after being dunked on numerous occasions this month…I can still bounce!

We kicked off Feb with some showjumping at Bicton arena, a great open venue and to our relief Canto went superb, we then decided to make the journey again the following week for some dressage, canto went incredibly, scoring an unbelievable 74.16%…. This proves all the training is well and truly paying off, and again a lot of credit to our fantastic couch Hannah Biggs.

We also took canto to his first indoor showjumping which he really seemed to love…pulling out another couple of second rosettes. Our partnership is improving and this year is going to be a big learning curve for the both of us, we haven’t seen Warren Lamperd enough this month due to competing more, so March we will be back on the road a lot more for training.

xc schooling has started and I’m extremely happy with the boys way of going on grass, fit and feisty and absolutely loving their jobs. Lots to work on when the ground gets better but we will be saving the boys legs for better ground.

Wilderness halcyon has continued to improve at home but hasn’t been out due to time, as of March he will be travelling the length and breath of the country with old pal Canto, and I cannot wait to show you all the results of his hard work, he’s a dream to ride everyday and his confidence is now peaking, this year will be amazing for him.

The Star of the month however is Rocky, this horse has completely turned corner, he’s taken a HUGE step forward and I am so proud of him, his whole attitude to life has changed, he will now be out a lot sooner than I could ever have imagined and my next mission is to find him some small dressage competitions. Rachael Howe and Liam Collins have worked seriously hard to get this boy to where he is today, and I think it’s going to be a very emotional day to see this boy out enjoying his competing. He REALLY deserves the chance we’ve given him

Loulous belly continues to grow and we are now counting down weeks not months until the birth of our first homebred. I am overly excited and absolutely petrified at the same time.

The season is nearly upon us, and we are SO ready to kick on and tackle whatever is put in front of us.

2015 is already proving to be the best year of my life and we are only 2 months in, I am very fortunate that my full time job is AMAZING, so the 20 hour working days are nothing but FUN.

THIS IS LIFE 🙂
